Day 1 We'll leave Morelia for the monarch sanctuary Sierra Chincua and spend most of the day exploring and observing the millions of butterflies. Before settling down for dinner, we'll visit an archeological site and the fist Franciscan church in the country. Evening in the city of Zitacuaro.
Day 2 One of the highest points in the area is El Casique, a mountain just outside Zitacuaro. We'll hike to its summit and do a rappel. If your group is interested in mountain biking, the day can be spent biking instead. Night in Zitacuaro.
Day 3 On a lake just South of Zitacuaro we'll learn soem basic rescue tactics and whitewater paddling strokes in preparation for out next few days on the River Balsas. Afterwards we'll make the trip down to the town of Huetamo where we'll spend the night.
Day 4Our first day on the River Balsas is packed with great rapids, spectacular views and plenty of fun! Starting in the town of San Pedrito we'll make our way down river to Santiaguito. In the desert-like climate its nice to stop for a quick dip in the river along the way. Night in Huetamo.
Day 5 Beyond the town of Santiaguito, the rapids on the River Balsas get heavier and its our destination for our final day of adventure. We'll spend most of the day shooting rapids and enjoying the scenery before heading back to Morelia.
