Day 1: CHIANG RAI (L)
Arrive Chiang Rai by plane in the mid morning, 1-hour drive to the luxurious Baan Boran hotel. After check in at the hotel, take a long-tail boat trip (30 mins) along Mekong River to Chiang Saen. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Chiang Saen National Museum and Wat Chedi Luang (45 mins). Overnight at the Baan Boran Hotel.
Day 2: CHIANG RAI - THA TON (B, L, D)
After breakfast, depart for Mae Salong via Chiang Saen and Yao village of Lao Sip for a visit. In Mae Salong, visit the hill tribe and Chinese market.
Then drive 20 mins to the Akha Village of Pakha Sukjai. Continue to Thaton and stop for lunch at Thaton River View.
In the afternoon, enjoy a river barge ride along Maekok to the Shan Village of Mai Mok Cham. Visit the village before returning to the resort. Dinner and overnight at the Thaton River View.
Day 3: THA TON - LISU LODGE (B, L, D)
After breakfast, depart for Tub Tao Caves and then drive southward (1 hour) to Royal Ping Resort for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy rural activities such as elephant and oxcart riding and bamboo rafting. Cross the new bridge at Muang Gurt to Lisu Lodge. Upon arrival at Lisu Lodge, take a short rest in the ‘living area’ before taking a village trip guided by one of the family heads to see Lisu customs and culture. Enjoy dinner with Lisu music from one of our Lisu banjo players and a dance performed by village children at the lodge. Overnight at Lisu Lodge.
Day 4: LISU LODGE - MAE HONG SON (B, L, D)
After breakfast, drive southward 45 minutes to Mork Fah waterfall and enjoy soft drinks near the waterfall. Drive west over a glorious switchback road with views of high mountain ranges and forests. Lunch at a local restaurant - superb Thai food, lovely decoration.
After lunch, drive west to Tham Lod (1 hr) and then enjoy bamboo rafting along the running river through the caves for 20 minutes. Explore coffins in upper galleries of the cave if you wish, then 20 minutes walk back to the car park. Soft drink serves at cafe by car park.
Drive from the caves back to the village and continue to Mae La Na via Red Lahu village of Ya Pa Nae. Continue route to Mae Hong Son by passing by the Shan village. Dinner and overnight at Fern Resort or similar
Day 5: MAE HONG SON (B, L)
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a round trip by long-tail boat along the pretty Pai River to visit the longneck (Padong) village close to the Myanmar border. Then drive to Mae Hong Son for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, visit Wat Doi Kong Mu and passing Mae Hong Son city before transferring to the airport for your afternoon flight.
