2 Days / 1 Night • Chiang Rai – Golden Triangle
DAY 1: CHIANG MAI – GOLDEN TRIANGLE (L, D)
Pick up from hotel in Chiang Mai and depart for Mae Salong to visit Akha Village. The Akha people are rightly famous for their very exotic and beautiful costumes, and can be seen in many towns in northern Thailand selling their unique handicrafts. They are not known for their shyness, and one can easily find oneself engaged in an animated bargaining session with these gregarious salespeople. Quick to laugh and quick to joke, they are a delightful people to stay with or visit, and are very generous with whatever little they have.
Visit also Chinese refugees, which fled to Myanmar from China after the 1949 Chinese revolution, and Yao Village. The Yao are a very peaceable and friendly people, who pride themselves on cleanliness and honour. They are extremely sociable and open, and are delighted to play hosts to visitors.
Then proceed to Phu Chai Sai Resort for lunch. Afternoon depart for Chiang Saen, a small town in a beautiful setting on the Mae Khong River and enjoy enchanting the charm of its old temples. Here take a boat trip along Mae Khong River to Golden Triangle.
Arrive and visit the Golden Triangle overlooking the Mekong River. Time to appreciate the beautiful scenery of the Mae Khong River, the borders of three countries – Thailand, Laos and Burma and walk around the area. Then continue to hotel for check in and time leisure. Dinner and overnight at Imperial Golden Triangle Resort.
DAY 2: GOLDEN TRIANGLE – CHIANG RAI (B, L)
Breakfast at hotel and then proceed to Doi Tung “ The flag Mountain”, where new villages have been created under the auspices of the Princess Mother’ s Foundation. . Upon arrival, visit Doi Tung Palace and Mae Fah Luang Garden.
Continue to visit Royal Handicraft Center at the foothill. Then depart for lunch at Doi Kum Restaurant. Afternoon, proceed to Chiang Rai city to visit local market.
Then depart for a visit of Wat Phra Kaew. Continue to Chiang Rai Airport for departure flight to next destination.
