What's the surf like?

Image

The surf is fantastic - so good, in fact, that Longboard surfing Magazine spent 10 days here in April '98. The area around here has a wide variety of surf breaks to suit all surfers, both long and shortboarders, beginners to pros. We have pointbreaks, beachbreaks, reefs and rivermouths. Both rights and lefts with the majority of the points being lefts. Most of these spots can handle swells from any direction, so we have great surfable waves year round. May and June can get some big swells, sometimes up to fifteen feet. For those of you who like to get barreled, we have waves for you. For the cruisers and noseriders this place is paradise! The average size ranges from shoulder high to six foot most of the time. The water temperature stays around 80 degrees and in the winter the offshore winds come off the mountains and blow until around noon every day, if you are looking for great surf and no crowds, come surf with us.

Who surfs here?

World class surfers like Gary Chapman, Darren Leadingham, Devon Howard, Keefe Gargan, Josh Baxter, Josh Mohr, Josh Farberow, and Lance Woleslagel to name a few.

The Weather

Located in central mexico on the pacific coast in the state of guerrero. The region is tropical and warm all year round. Some claim it has the best climate in mexico. In the winter months, december through april the average daytime temperature is around 85 degrees with the nights going down to around 65 degrees. During this time there is little to no rainfall. The rainy season is from July through the summer, usually ending by mid-October. The average temperature in the summer is 90 degrees in the daytime and 75 degrees at night. Hurricane season ranges from late July through October, with the highest frequency in august and September. The area around this resort has not had a direct hit by a hurricane in over 50 years, although we do experience a lot of rain when major storms pass by.

World class surfing that features three excellent breaks is within walking distance of the resort. Two points and a rivermouth. Additional breaks are available in the area, but require a vehicle for access. The surfing is excellent all year 'round - we have breaks that work on all types of swells. You can rent boards at the resort or bring your own. Instruction is available.

Here you can go horseback riding, ride burros on the beach, explore the huge cave that is nearby, become a beachcomber, go fishing, and, of course, surf.

If you are here to relax, this is the best place in the world to do nothing! Kick back and drink in the beauty of the tropical sunsets, take a siesta, enjoy an early morning stroll on the beach, hang out in the bar, or watch the local Air Force perform incredible displays of aerial dexterity.

45 minutes down the coast is Zihuatanejo, a beautiful fishing town with many shops and restaurants to choose from. Deep sea fishing, scuba diving, para-sailing, and jet ski rentals are all available. The town also offers an abudance of shopping adventures in classy shops as well as the local markets.

Ixtapa has two world class golf courses, discos and night clubs if you are up to it, and the area boasts one of the best climates in Mexico making outdoor adventures and activities a year round pleasure!
