A seven day expedition to the Yucatan peninsula, which includes multiple activities such as: kayaking, biking, snorkeling, hiking in the jungle, exploring Mayan sites and camping in pristine protected areas. Trip highlights: - Kayak in the ocean lanes used by ancient Mayan traders, inside the barrier reef.
- Snorkel the area´s reef and blue lagoons.
- Walk the ruins and climb the temples of Chichen Itzá and other Mayan sites that reveal the engineering genius and the worldview of the ancient Mayan cities that ruled southeast México and Central America.
- Camp 3 nights on pristine beaches and sleep two nights in a ranch inside México´s second largest federal park, the 1.8 million acre Sian ka´an Biosphere Reserve.
- Overnight on the powdery sands of the Caribbean beyond Cancun.
- Sleep in a 16th century town founded by the Spanish conquistadores.
Day 1 Pick upat the airport and transfer to the Botanical garden in Puerto Morelos.
Establish campment, after that dinner in the campment and explanation of activities, security measuremets and important information. Day 2 | 07:30 | Breakfast in the camp. | | 08:30 | Hiking in the jungle learning about plants, trees and medicinal plants of the Mayas. | | 12:00 | Lunch in the campment. | | 14:00 | Afternoon walk in the jungle in search of wild spider monkeys. | | 16:30 | Free time. | | 18:00 | Dinner in the campment and brief explanation on the birds of the Maya jungle. | | 20:00 | Optional night walk to discover the sounds of the jungle after dark. |
Day 3 | 06:00 | Early walk in the jungle in search of birds in the jungle. | | 07:30 | Breakfast in the campment. | | 08:30 | Depart towards Chichen Itzá archaeological site. | | 10:45 | Visit the famous and most important archaeological site of
the Mayas: Chichen Itzá. | | 13:30 | Lunch on your own. | | 15:00 | Visit the unique cenote Dzinup. An amazing cave with turquoise
water. You will be able to enjoy swimming in this cenote. | | 16:00 | Back to campment. | | 18:00 | Arrival and dinner in campment. |
Day 4 | 07:00 | Breakfast in campment. | | 08:00 | Pack your things and depart to do a bike trip. | | 09:30 | Bike through the jungle discovering unique cenotes; in the area you can
snorkel and discover amazing caves. | | 16:00 | Depart towards Sian ka´an Reserve. | | 17:00 | Arrival to Sian ka´an Reserve and establish campment. | | 18:00 | Dinner in the campment. |
Day 5 | 06:00 | Optional kayak or boat trip in the wetlands and channels of the Sian ka´an
Biosphere Reserve doing bird identification. | | 08:00 | Breakfast in the campment. | | 09:00 | Optional beach clean up. | | 11:00 | Snorkel in the unspoiled reefs of the reserve. | | 13:00 | Lunch in campment. | | 15:00 | Games at the beach. | | 18:00 | Dinner in the campment. | | 20:00 | Night walk at the beach in search of marine turtles (May to September). |
Day 6 | 06:00 | Optional kayak or boat trip in the wetlands and channels of the Sian ka´an
Biosphere Reserve doing bird identification and wetlands explanation. | | 08:00 | Breakfast in the campment. | | 09:00 | Optional beach clean up. Explanation on beach pollution, plastics, etc. | | 11:00 | Snorkel in the unspoiled reefs of the reserve. Identification, census of coral, fish and plants. | | 13:00 | Lunch in campment. | | 15:00 | Adopt a palm. Reflections on wildlife and protected areas. | | 18:00 | Dinner in the campment. | | 20:00 | Fireplace. |
Day 7
