Jaguar Adventure

Unique seven-day expedition that involves participating in a research project of the jaguars population of Siankaan Biosphere Reserve. The project includes visiting the jaguar’s habitat, search of tracks and feces of that great felin inside of the Sian Ka’an biosphere reserve, traveling along wetlands, subcaducifolius forest, coastal lagoons, Subperennial forest and dunes.
Some of the activities included are: hiking in the jungle, applying some of biodiversity techniques for data obtain, snorkeling, exploring Mayan sites, and camping on pristine protected areas.
Trip Highlights:
Hiking in the subcaducifolius fores, wetlands or dunes, looking for jaguar tracks.
Camping in the amazing Sian Ka´an Biosphere Reserve jungle, home to more than 345 species of birds, 100 mammals and a wide diversity of plants and animals. Sian Ka´an reserve has more than 1.5 million acres protected. Snorkel the area's reefs and blue lagoons.
Walk through the ruins, and climb the temples of Santa Rosa that reveal the engineering genius and the worldview of the ancient Mayan people that ruled southeast México and Central America. Discover the fantastic ecosystem of hammocks (peten) a unique community of jungle trees in the middle of wetlands.

Day 1
Pick up in the airport and transfer to Santa Teresa Research station in the middle west access of Sian Ka´an Biosphere. Briefing about activities, security measurements and important information regarding the jaguar project.
20:00 Dinner in the station.
Day 2
6:00 Optional early birdwatching hike.
7:30 Breakfast in the station.
8:30 Begin jaguar methodolgy obtaining some biodiversity data in the subcaducifolian forest.
12:30 Lunch in the station.
14:00 Hike in the jungle looking for animals tracks or animal traces.
17:00 Back to the station.
19:00 Dinner in research station.
20:00 Hiking in the jungle. as part of the project, but also looking for insects and other night animals.
Day 3
6:00 Bird watching in the forest.
8:00 Breakfast in the station.
9:00 All day activities nearby the research station looking for jaguar tracks in the forest trials
19:00 Dinner in the research station.
20:30 Night hike searching for more animal traces.
Day 4 7:30 Breakfast in the research station.
8:30 Depart towards Zigual area.
13:00 Arrive to Zigual
13:30 Box lunch in Zigual
15:00 Hiking in Zigual towars to Bahia del Espiritu Santo, at the same time looking for animals traces and tracks.
18:30 Camping in the jungle
19:30 Dinner in the jungle
21:00 Night hike. Day 5 6:00 Optional birdwatching in the jungle.
7:30 Breakfast in the jungle.
8:30 All day hiking expedition crossing jungle and wetlands areas. 12:30 Arriving to Bahia Espiritu Santo.
13:00 Boat trip to snorkel in the unspoiled reefs of the reserve.
14:00 Lunch in Maria Elena town.
15:00 Depart to Bahia de la Ascención, searching of manatees, dolphins and turtles.
18:00 Arriving to Vigia Chico and transfer to the research station.
20:30 Dinner in Santa teresa research station.
Day 6
7:30 Breakfast at research station.
8:30 Departure to Puerto Morelos to Ojo de agua Hotel
12:00 Snorkeling in a second largest barrier reef of the world in Puerto Morelos
14:00 Lunch in Posada Amor
15:30 Hike in the botanical garden learning about Maya plants,trees and enjoying a wild population of spider Monkeys
19:30 Dinner in Posada Amor
Day 7
Transfer to the airport depending on flights back.
Jaguar Adventure includes:
5 american breakfast, 5 lunch, 6 dinners and non-alcoholic beverages, AC transportation.
Lodging in: Ojo de Agua Hotel or similar (1 night ), Sian ka'an research station inside Sian ka'an biosphere reserve (4 nights), Camping (1 night ).

Boats, snorkel and camping equipment. The price DOES NOT INCLUDE: Personal expenses like: laundry, phone calls, souvenirs, alcoholic beverages, breakfast and lunch on day 1, breakfast, lunch and dinner day 7, tips For all the tours we recommend bringing comfortable clothes and shoes, insect repellent, hat, swimsuit, long sleeve cotton shirt, long cotton pants, impermeable jacket, hygienic personal stuff and sun blocker.
