| Bandhavgarh National Park is situated 240 kms south east of the temple town of Khajuraho. Lying along the eastern fringe of the Vindhyachal range that divides the Ganges plains from the Deccan plateau, Bandhavgarh falls within the vegetational zone known as moist, tropical semi-deciduous forest, a forest characterised by the Sal (Shoera robusta) tree, which forms the majority species.
The ideal visit should be for at least three nights but a longer stay will increase chances of seeing the wide variety of animals and birds found here. Unlike Africa, animals must be looked for, requiring a greater deal of patience and luck.
The best way to see animals is by open jeeps provided by Bandhavgarh Jungle Camp. Guests are always accompanied by one of the resident naturalists who are familiar with the flora and fauna of the area. With a road network of over 200 km, it is possible to cover every habitat type in the Park.
The camp also arranges nature walks and bird watching in the surrounding forest, visit to the caves and shrines at the base of the Bandhavgarh Fort, slide shows and informal talks on the wildlife and history of the area by resident naturalists.
Some of the mammals found in the Park include:
Tiger, Leopard, Sloth bear, Sambar, Spotted Deer or Cheetal, Barking Deer, Chinkara, Four horned antelope, Nilgai or Bull Bull, Wild Boar .
The park and the camp open from November through May.Contact us for rates
