Season :- mid July - mid September

The hitherto forbidden motor road from Manali to Leh has now been opened to tourists. Traversing across incredible Himalayan terrain, the road takes one through high mountain passes from where one gazes out at wave after wave of mountain ranges backed by a deep blue sky. The landscape is desolate and has a savage beauty. The high plateaus are seen in hues of red, ochrs, yellow and rust. Rocks and sand sculpted into weird shapes appear like illusions as you traverse the "roof of the world".
