Stephen - Thanks ever so much for all your help in planning our Thailand trip, it was a roaring success. All connections, transfers, hotels, were as advertised. We had a wonderful time.
We had two real highlights: Day one in Bangkok we were taken to a floating market about one hour's drive from the hotel (a friend was our tour guide for three full days, what a huge help to us) where we were the only westerners and did we get the stares; our friend/guide picked the food at the market by telling us that such-and-such was fine, or such-and-such was too hot for our tender stomachs. The other real highlight ws the canoe/kyack trip at the PP Islands.
The night market at Chiandmai was a kick: I am a retiree of Levi Strauss & Co. and so I had to buy a polo shirt at the market. The shirt has the Levi's design on the front and the tag at the collar is for Lee; when I said "fake" to the vendor she immediately replied "cheaper." Much fun with that one, and I am having a good time here at home telling the story and showing the shirt. The Thai folks were all very helpful, warm. One huge plus for us was that "cybercafes" were everywhere. I did an email to about 20 folks and included a picture of Janet and me on an elephant; that cost all of about 60 cents. We sent a total of four emails to all our friends and family, and that sure saves a lot of writing.
We have many memories and we thank you for all your help.
Regards, Phil |
