Hike,
Bike, Raft or Rock Climb in California's National Parks
Cascading rivers, lofty peaks, and stands of giant sequoia trees
constitute the landscape of Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National
Parks. Astounding natural beauty surrounds us as we hike along cascading
waterfalls, mountain bike in the Sierra backcountry, whitewater raft
down the tumbling Merced River or learn to rock climb. This medley
of activities highlights the best of these national wonders.
Day 1 Kings Canyon-Sequoia. We shuttle from Fresno to Sequoia
and Kings Canyon National Parks. Upon arrival, we lace up our hiking
boots and explore the depths of Redwood Canyon and the sheer granite
of Big Baldy Ridge while soaking in the views of the Great Western
Divide's spectacular alpine peaks.
Days 2-3 Kings Canyon-Sierra National Forest. We hike in the
glaciated canyon of the South Fork of the Kings River, traveling by
cascading streams and through old growth forest until we reach Mist
Falls. The next day, we bike through the starkly beautiful alpine
landscape of the high Sierra.
Days 4-5 Yosemite. We first enjoy a day of hiking with breathtaking
views of the picturesque Yosemite Valley from above at Taft Point.
Spring departures offer a day of rafting on the mighty Merced River.
Fall departures experience a day of introductory climbing on Yosemite's
world-renowned granite.
Day 6 Yosemite. We conclude with a journey to Yosemite Valley
where you can choose from a myriad of activities! Horseback ride to
Mirror Lake, hike or bike ride the valley floor trails, or opt for
peaceful time to enjoy the scenery. Our journey ends back in Fresno.
