Hike,
Bike and Ride Horseback in Sedona and the Grand Canyon
Capture the spirit and splendor of the American Southwest in the
Grand Canyon's copper-hued depths and the fiery buttes of Sedona's red
rock country. Hike, mountain bike, and ride horseback through this magnificent
landscape and immerse yourself in the magical, mystical Southwest. It's
the perfect trip for friends and families alike with numerous, adventurous
options by day and eclectic lodges and noteworthy cuisine at night.
Days 1-2 Sedona. From Flagstaff we drive through Oak Creek Canyon
to Sedona. Two days of hiking and horseback riding through Sedona's
dreamy landscape are complemented with evenings of splendid comfort
and heavenly cuisine.
Day 3 Grand Canyon. Shuttle through the forested Kaibab Plateau
to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon for the day's hike. At the canyon's
edge is an ever-changing, colorful amphitheater of rock. The canyon's
immensity and grandeur are simply awesome.
Days 4-5 Grand Canyon. We bike to one of the park's outstanding
views, Grandview Point, for our hike along an old Indian route to Horseshoe
Mesa where we experience the sheer size and ruggedness of the canyon.
We then descend into the heart of the canyon on the South Kaibab Trail
and take in the marvelous views from Cedar Ridge and Skeleton Point.
Day 6 Coconino Rim-Flagstaff. Before ending in Flagstaff, we
bike along a portion of the Arizona Trail from the historic Grandview
Lookout Tower with views of the Grand Canyon, Upper Basin, Coconino
Rim and Painted Desert.
