Hike and Raft in Banff, Jasper and Yoho National Parks
Few areas can match the sheer spectacle of the Canadian Rockies. Our creative itinerary features this region's renowned sights, as well as the lesser-known treasures that make The World Outdoors' trips so special. Each day highlights a unique facet of this alpine wonderland, blending the best of Canada's Banff, Jasper and Yoho National Parks. Experience the alpine tundra, pristine meadows, blue glacial ice, magnificent wilderness, and thrilling whitewater.
Day 1 Banff. From Banff to Lake Louise's glaciers and jagged mountains we explore the heart of Banff National Park. The historic Deer Lodge is our home for the night, where gourmet dining and a rooftop jacuzzi welcome us to the Rockies.
Day 2 Jasper. Experience two of the best glacier hikes, Parker Ridge and Wilcox Pass, in one day. Both trails are noted for their panoramic vistas of the Columbia Icefield, one of the largest sheets of glacial ice in the interior of North America.
Day 3 Banff. Explore the alpine environment near Dolomite Pass, ablaze with wildflowers beneath limestone crags. Your destination, Helen Lake, is nestled in a spectacular natural amphitheater the perfect setting in which to take a break and enjoy a well-deserved lunch.
Day 4 Yoho. We shuttle across the Great Divide to British Columbia's Yoho National Park. The word "Yoho," a Cree expression of awe and wonder, captures perfectly the sentiment you're bound to experience. We'll see 1,000-foot high Takakkaw Falls and hike the classic Iceline Trail to Emerald Glacier.
Days 5-6 Lake MacArthur-Kicking Horse. Saved for the last day of hiking is amazing alpine scenery tucked away in the remote reaches of the Great Divide. Remote glaciated peaks, deep blue waters and magnificent waterfalls highlight our backcountry route. Conclude the trip whitewater rafting the mighty Kicking Horse River before returning to Banff.
