Hike Maui, Kauai and the Big Island
Explore our three favorite gems: Kauai, Maui and Hawaii. We'll hike the lunar landscape of Haleakala Crater and the verdant, soaring cliffs of the Na Pali Coast. We'll trek into colorful Waimea Canyon and the stark Volcanoes National Park. We'll relax on white-sand beaches as we share in a traditional luau celebration. We'll experience Hawaii as few have – off the beaten path!
Days 1-3 Hana-Haleakala. Greet Maui's pristine beauty with a hike along an ancient, coastline trail. Features include lava flows and formations, caves, ancient burial sites, and blow holes. In the shadow of Haleakala, we then hike the breathtaking Waimoku Falls Trail for a fresh-water dip in rock-bound pools. Soon after sunrise on our third day, we descend into Haleakala, the world's largest volcanic crater, to experience lunar-like landscape and uncommon plant and animal life.
Days 4-5 Hawaii Volcanoes National Park-Waipio Valley. Following a quick flight to the "Big Island" of Hawaii, watch red lava hiss into the surging Pacific, discover ancient petroglyphs, and explore Volcanoes National Park's extraordinary features. Enjoy Waipio's amphitheater valley and its towering waterfalls and tropical bamboo forests.
Days 6-8 Sleeping Giant-Waimea Canyon-Na Pali Coast. Upon arrival on the garden isle of Kauai, we'll climb Sleeping Giant Mountain for fabulous vistas of the island. Travel the forests of koa and ohia to overlook the rim of Waimea Canyon. This 2,857-foot deep canyon was named the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" by Mark Twain. Discover wild fruit, mountain streams and swimming holes as we hike the premier Na Pali Coast Trail. Before concluding in Lihue we venture to the summit of Nonou Mountain for a 360-degree vista of Kauai, stretching from its deep blue waters to its high peaks.
