Stone Embroideries 3 Days / 2 Nights • Korat / Lopburi / Ayuthaya
Eight centuries ago, scenes from Khmer history were carved onto the walls of temples, which now lay almost abandoned in the jungle. Later, Siamese kings built temples and palaces in their capital cities. Rediscover these incredible sites on this tour.
Day 1: BANGKOK - KHAO YAI NATIONAL PARK - KORAT (L)
Proceed via Nakhonnayok to Khao Yai National Park, laced with many natural trails and streams also containing several splendid waterfalls, in a spectacular countryside. Visit Heaw Suwat Waterfalls and the National Park center. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue driving to Korat. Overnight at Royal Princess Korat or Sima Thani Hotel.
Day 2: KHMER TEMPLES (B, L)
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Prasat Hin Phimai, one of the most splendid examples of classical Khmer religious architecture found outside Cambodia, and Sai Ngam known as “Beautiful Banyan Tree”. Lunch at a local restaurant en route. In the afternoon, visit Phanom Rung and Meung Tham Historical Park, both attest to strong Khmer cultural influences from the 11th to 13th centuries. After the visit, return to Korat via Daan Kwain. Overnight at Royal Princess Korat or Sima Thani Hotel.
Day 3: KORAT - LOPBURI - AYUTHAYA - BANGKOK (B, L)
Breakfast at the hotel. Then depart for Lopburi, the capital city of the 17th century, to visit Prang Sam Yod built in Lopburi style and decorated with stucco, Wat Sri Rattana Mahathat and King Narai's Palace, which was designed by French architects. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue to Ayuthaya, the ancient capital of Siam where you’ll visit Wat Pra Srisanpet and Wat Mongkonborpith. Then return to Bangkok in the late afternoon.
