Experience the traditions and culture of the hill tribes in northern Thailand and enjoy exiting outdoor activities. By staying in the Lisu Lodge you are close to the village of Dton Tung and can get a unique insight into a culture as exotic and different as that of the Lisu.
The Lanna Farm preserves the best of Thailand’s country side and rural traditions, with a hint of luxury for the discerning guest seeking peace, natural beauty and tranquility.
Day 1 CHIANG MAI – LISU LODGE (L, D)
Pick up at the hotel in Chiang Mai by a local truck and drive to visit the mountain temple of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, the most famous landmark of Chiang Mai. The sound of temple bells fills the air, and the views down over the city make an irresistible photograph opportunity.
Drive up the mountain, passing the King’s Winter Palace of Phuping. Turn onto a rough dirt road to visit the white Hmong village of Chang Khien. This village of about 800 people still retains traditional hill tribe clothes and culture intact although the modern city of Chiang Mai can be viewed down below, only 10 km away as the birds fly, but 500 years in every other aspect. You will be shown around the village by one of the headman’s assistant, and enjoy a quick cup of steaming mountain tea with a village family. They are the best hosts, and will be delighted to chat with you and to answer your questions. Then drive down the valley for lunch at Lisu Lodge.
Take a relaxing oxcart ride through fields, orchards and teak plantations. After that, observe typical hill tribe activities of the Lisu like embroidering and organic gardening. Then go on a village trip guided by one of the family heads to experience Lisu customs and culture. Dinner and overnight at Lisu Lodge.
Day 2 LISU LODGE – LANNA FARM (B, L, D) (Join-in basis)
After a breakfast at the lodge, start biking for about 13 km to the Mae Taeng Elephant Camp, enjoy an hour elephant ride through the beautiful mountain scenery and picnic lunch by the Mae Taeng River.
In the afternoon embark on an rubber boat for 45 minutes white water rafting along the Mae Taeng River.
Transfer to Phrao via Mae Hor Phra and visit Bua Tong Waterfall en route. Arrive at Lanna Farm and participate in activities such as weaving, wickerwork (bamboo and rattan), fruit and vegetable carving. Dinner and overnight at Lanna Farm.
Day 3 LANNA FARM: COOKING CLASS – CHIANG MAI (B, L)
Enjoy a breakfast on the terrace where you can overview hundred rai of rice field surrounded by mountains. Experience a market tour in Phrao District with an introduction of Thai ingredients and pastes, and then back for cooking class at Lanna Farm

Then, take easy cycling on an old style bicycle to visit a huge reclining Buddha at Wat Tham Dork Kum. Stop en route for conversations with the locals about agro-tour topics. Late afternoon, transfer back to Chiang Mai.
