Situated mainly in rural areas. Not a lot of exercise or body work programs. Typified by nice, healthy meals, hot mineral soaking pools, some massage, wraps and facials, etc. May offer hiking, biking or local cultural excursions to nearby places or points of interest. Nice way to recharge one's batteries at his/her own pace. Vegetarian meals available.
Structured Spas:are geared to weight loss, fitness programs, stress-relief programs and health and beauty, with outside activities such as hiking, swimming, bicycling, touring, cultural tours, etc. A more pro-active approach to your spa experience, including options of bodywork, wraps, fitness/exercise classes. Vegetarian meals available.
Medical Spas International: Generally the quality of lodging and the meal plans are of a different quality than what you will find in the USA. This is generally true of the Eastern European spas i.e. Rumania, Poland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, etc. However, if you want to experience the classical traditional spas, then it's worth the flexibility to visit these spas. With foreign exchange U.S. dollar advantages, longer stays at these facilities can cost the same as a shorter stay in a U.S. facility. Vegetarian meals available in Western Europe. In the Eastern European spas, the selections are fewer.
